Keep Britain Working Review: Call for Insights on Workplace Interventions

The Keep Britain Working Review, an independent initiative led by Sir Charlie Mayfield for the UK Government, is seeking valuable insights from employers, stakeholders, and individuals on effective workplace interventions. The review aims to support employees with health conditions and disabilities by focusing on three key areas:

  1. Prevention: Strategies to prevent health issues from developing or worsening at work.
  2. Retention: Measures to retain employees facing barriers to work, preventing them from transitioning to sickness absence.
  3. Rehabilitation: Approaches to rehabilitate employees who have gone on sickness absence, enabling a successful return to work.

The review is particularly interested in interventions that benefit the following groups, who are at high risk of leaving employment and becoming economically inactive:

  • Younger employees (16-34) with mental health conditions
  • Mid-aged employees (35-49) with musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions
  • Older employees (50+) approaching retirement
  • Disabled employees of all ages

Participants are encouraged to share their experiences and expertise, providing specific examples or case studies of successful interventions. Responses should be concise, practical, and evidence-based where possible.

Submission Guidelines:

  • Avoid including identifiable personal information.
  • Indicate "general workforce" for broad insights.
  • Specify which groups your responses apply to if relevant.

The collected responses will inform policy recommendations to improve workplace support for employees with health conditions and disabilities. Submissions will be stored securely on Department Work and Pensions (DWP) servers and used exclusively for the review. Identifiable information will not be included in the final publication without written permission. Data will be analysed to identify key themes, challenges, and solutions, and will be deleted within six months of the review's conclusion, in line with UK Government data protection regulations.

Deadline: The form will close at midnight on Friday 30th May 2025.
