Mobile Connectivity
A new next-generation 5G network is being built in the City of Bath, unlocking new innovation opportunities and unparalleled connectivity and speed for mobile users. The project, known as ONE WORD, was funded by the Department for Science Innovation & Technology as part of their Open Networks Ecosystem competition.
Once this pilot project completes in 2025, we will be aiming to expand the network to a wider area within the district.
Broadband Investment
We are actively working with government to deliver ultrafast connectivity to homes and businesses through Project Gigabit and the Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme, the latter of which serves our rural communities. In addition to broadband, Invest in B&NES is developing a range of mobile and mesh-based solutions to ensure full coverage in our region. The team is working in partnership with digital skills, employment outreach groups to support digital inclusion so that everyone can benefit from these next-generation digital opportunities.
